One month ago today, it was our first full day of our vacation at Walt Disney World. I still haven’t had any time to make any scrapbook pages and here’s why…
Monday, October 25…Since it was a beautiful day we made plans to join a new playgroup at a park after we picked up Emily at school. Through a series of events, the “regulars” weren’t able to make it, but we went anyhow. I’m so glad that we went because we had a great time and a friend who I haven’t seen for too long showed up. What a wonderful surprise to get to play with Debra and Joy! I was so excited to catch up with Debra, that I forgot to take photos of the girls with Joy. I did get a few photos of the Glamour Girls though...

Saturday, October 27…The girls and I were invited to a Halloween Party in the afternoon. However, you will see photos of only Mia below because Emily picked today to draw on the carpet in the game room with markers. I seriously think that I was in shock when I discovered it because I didn’t yell at her. My head wanted to pop off, so I just walked out of the room. I think that had more of an impact than yelling about it. What really had the impact was explaining that because she made such a bad choice that she wouldn’t be able to go to the party. It broke my heart, but there was no way that I could let her go after her little indiscretion.
Monday, October 29…A day off from school and we had plans to go to the Pumpkin Farm with our best friends Mollianne and Erin. Unfortunately, we had to cancel. When we picked up the girls last night after our Bible study, Emily coughed the whole way home. In the morning, she had a stuffy nose, so we decided to take it easy. By the afternoon, she had a fever and was coughing and throwing up. Her fever hit 104 at bedtime, so I spent most of the night checking her temperature and making sure she was okay.
Tuesday, October 30…I called yesterday afternoon to get an appointment with our pediatrician for 11:45 today. Unfortunately, our regular and favorite pediatrician wasn’t available so we had to see another doctor. A good doctor, but not nearly as wonderful as our favorite. We finally got back home at 3:30 after a visit to the hospital for x-rays. She may have pneumonia or bronchitis. Whatever she has, she is very sick. *We finally found out that it was bronchitis.Monday, October 29…A day off from school and we had plans to go to the Pumpkin Farm with our best friends Mollianne and Erin. Halloween Day…Or as we call it, “The Halloween That Wasn’t”…I was optimistic in the morning and dressed the girls in their Halloween outfits. I even had them sit by the pumpkins in our foyer for photos.
Emily was not in the mood to have her photo taken...
Daddy finally coaxed a smile out of her...
By the afternoon, Emily appeared to make a rally and we thought that we would be able to get out for a little trick-or-treating. She threw up at dinner and that was the end of her desire to trick-or-treat. I felt so sad because she had been looking forward to Halloween for months and Grammy and Pop Pop bought her a beautiful Cinderella costume at Walt Disney World. We will find an occasion for her to wear it soon!
So, last week was a crazy week of sleepless nights, breathing treatments, antibiotics and oral steroids as well as trying to keep the rest of us healthy and Mia entertained while I cared for Emily.
It was a long week and I’m happy to report that things are looking up this week! Emily returned to school on Monday and stayed the whole 5 hours. I was worried that she would need a breathing treatment or get too tired, but she was a champ and had a great day! And, she continues to feel better every day.
We’re returning to our regular pediatrician tomorrow for a follow up. I’m going to talk to her about seeing an ENT. I just have this feeling that there is something going on with Emily that’s being overlooked. I don’t see any improvement since we’ve started seeing the Allergy/Asthma Specialist. I am so frustrated at seeing my daughter get so sick so frequently.

And, finally a tidbit from our vacation...
